Hope everyone had a good time and was warm enough. Please give me some feed back. Other than that this is where you go to let me know if you are planning on playing or not on 2.9.07

Hope to see you all there.

Oh, by the way Bill has made up a web site for the team battle if you are interested.

Paul will be there. The heat was great. If it is that cold again I suggest the final table be held away from the garage doors.

I'm in and the heater was great. It got it little cold near the end of the night but nothing like I thought it was going to be.

John is in for 2/9.

Is that propane heater safe for indoors or is Kurt going to blow up his garage with it?

Count me in too... Steve M...

The heat was good but I agree the final table shouldn't be near the door if it's that cold...

PS. Mohamad, how was the final table? Oh that's right... You didn't make it either game! ;-)

Marc and Niki are in.
Also besides blowing up Kurt's garage- is it ok to breath in the air from that heater?

Greg said...

Just a quick note on the propane. They the safest form of indoor outdoor heating. I assume John was kidding about the blowing up thing because we all know that could not happen and I know why you are concerned Niki, but having researched it and also growing up with propane tanks for heating our house and our stove there are no fumes to speak of and are non-Toxic since all the gas is burned off during heating.

I think the Team Battle needs to be refined.

Initially it was a fun behind the scenes things between Bill's four guys who beat everybody in every single poker category possible last year, and the four guys I put together to compete against them this year.

The scoring system that Bill came up with was simply the number 1 guy versus the other team's number one guy, and so on. If the A person from one team beat the A person from the other, as far as staying in the game longer, they would earn one point. And the tie breaker would be the overall points.

At that time I had agreed that if the 4th member of the team doesn;t make it for any reason then you only pit the top 3 versus the top 3.

This was fine for a one team versus one other team (behind the scenes) competition.

But I believe that it has now gotten a bit beyond that. With 6 teams, or whatever, I think we need to refine the point system and maybe come up with a whole new way of scoring. Maybe we make it nothing more than each member of the team gets a quantity of points equal to position they go out, meaning if you go out first, you earn 1 (of everybody in the room) you earn one point. If you are the 8th person in the room to go out you earn 8 points. If there are 30 people in the game and you win it, you get 30 points.

No more of this A division, B division, C division, D division thing...

Also when it was just two teams we had an wasy way to deal with what happens when a member of the team misses a night. Now that we have these 6 teams we got away from that and if you are missing someone (and I don't believe that my team would be missing someone too often) you automatically lose out on the possibility of 20% of the total points and are severely happered in getting the 20% from the overall finish points.

And lastly this seems like a lot of work for a fun thing. again when it was just two teams we could have wagered whatever without too much difficulty. I think Kurt had suggested the loser take the winners to breakfast or dinner and they have to dress up like women. But Now that this has developed into something I didn;t intend it to be, I'd say we should try to make it worth something, like maybe each team member puts up a dollar extra each week and we decide on a prize payout. If a team member doesn;t want to use this for incentive then one of their other team members could take their action. Anyway, just my thoughts...

Also, Bill, since I am still going to keep track of your team versus my team, including week one and using the decided upon rules that we first came up with, could you remind me who was pitted against who in week one?

Thanks,
Jim

Steve(Sporty) is in.

That makes 34 people. Is this too many?

Anonymous said...

Do we have to many players???

Anonymous said...

ok after discussions with a few people here is how it is going to go.

The Team Battle will stay the Same for 2007 as it was played this past week. Any Changes that need to be made will be made for the 2008 year.

Jim you are welcome to run the seperate Team Ihopp vs Team Ipod battle and I will have the stats for you for the previous two weeks on Friday.

As far as it being too much work. It is work for one person me. All you have to do is play your game.If you play to win you won't need to worry about where you finish in the team battle. I am the one writing down the scores up to the minute and I have no complaints so there should be no issues with that.

Till Friday

Bill
