See you then.

I thought that the second game went great. As long as you had an average stack at no time before the final table did you feel like you were short stacked and forced, which is what makes for a good tournament. The first game was different, as it always is. Once we combined to 2 tables the blinds were $300/$600 and increased shortly after to $400/$800. With 20 players left the average stack was $2475, so everyone less than $6000 would be short stacked. Discussed this with Ryan who indicated that this is normal once down to 2 tables. I always thought that the blinds were usually $100/$200 or so when we get to 2 tables, but admittedly I don't usually key in on it...

I was happily suprised to see that going to 33 players and having a 4th table really didn't end up adding extra time as we done by 1am.
The heater was perfect.

I only played the first game, but I noticed an unusual amount of all-ins once we hit 2 tables. I think the blinds were really putting a squeeze on, and a lot of players had no choice but to go all-in.

I don't remember it always being this way. It played more like the beginning of the final table used to.

One thing we could do once we hit a certain number of players (28-30 whatever) would be to run 2 tourney's at the same time. Keep in mind I have no idea of the logistics of doing that.

Splitting into 2 simultaneous tourneys would reduce the stress of the blinds, and allow for more action as the game goes on.

As I said, I don't know about the logistics of this idea, but I do think it would improve the level of poker play.

I'm in for 2/23, and if I don't win I'm quitting. Just kidding, I think.

We've discussed all the short stack stuff before. Short stacks are just going to be the norm if we're playing two tournaments a night. I would suggest playing one big long tournament for double points, double money every couple months (every quarter?), as sort of like a special tournament. That way we at least get to see what it would be like with a big field and long tournament.

Tim and Alice won't be there - I'll be practicing losing my money
on the Star Princess.

Thought the last heater was great (though if you're sitting by the door it's still coooold.)

See you guys next time,
Alice

That makes 21 in and 3 out so far.

The date is indeed Friday February 23, 2007, not the 24th. Sorry about that.
