Poker Night 3.9.2007 @ 6:45pm

New Format - We are going to try a new format for the KNK Poker League. If it works we will switch over to it, if it does not work we will not do it again, and if it seems just OK we might try it once a quarter or so.

I am sure we will not get it right on the first try so if we deep this format there will be some adjustments made. Here are some of the changes.

One Big game with a second game to start once the first game gets down to 15 people. The 15 people left in the Big game are all in the points. The top 5 places in the second game will get points. the buy-in for the Big game will be $18. The buy-in for the second game will be $6. The goal of this format is to promote better poker. We will be doing this by increasing the starting chip stack and lengthening the time of the blinds for the Big game. The second game will be run with the same structure we currently use.

If you have any question please feel free to post them or email me directly at kneuf_2000@yahoo.com

Don't forget to sign up,

Kurt

I am actually in favor of this idea. I've said a number of times that the thing that makes KNK so unique is the fact that if you have a bad first game, you can sort of redeem yourself in the second. I think this idea takes the best parts from both worlds. Hopefully it works out. I'll see you there.

Elaine, Andy and George are in. The changes sound fine to me and we can always go back if we don't like it. Either way, it will be fun.

Paul will be there.
My question is regarding the points for this new tourney. Will I make more points finishing 15th in the original game or 1st in the second game?

You would make more points finishing first in the second game. Finishing first in the second game will be around the same amount of points as 10th in the first game.

I'm in for the 9th.

See you then. One question for clarification...

Say there are 33 people in the first game. Once down to 15 there would be 18 players that are out. Would all 18 (assuming no one leaves) be eligible for the second game? Would the points earned in the second game be based upon the quantity of players, as we do for the first game.

I think I know the answers, but thought we should explain...

Ok Team Battle is not up yet as soon as the stats are updated I will post them.

Tim, this week you will have to get you chips from someone else :)

I am leaving on a journey to refind what has been lost. Where I am going I do not know, but until the Bill Factor is alive again I will not stop in my efforts to find it.

Good luck on Friday

Kurt,

As mentioned I will be there, but will be a bit late (have tae kwon do belt testing starting a 6 pm). I don't expect to be too late, but worst case I may miss two or three blinds. Either way, I will be drop off the chairs early and will be there.

I'm out for 3/9. Not sure I like the new format, but see how it goes I guess. Can people that are out 15th and higher join in the 2nd game? If so, why would the points for a win be less?

Anyways, Good luck next week!

Ok,time to comment on the new format. First I have to much time on my hands but here goes.
I do like the long tournament format with the longer blinds and larger chip stack as we all believe it will promote a more challenging tournament, without forced play.
But on the second game I feel it should probably be just a side money tournament that has no bearing on the points or other statistics.
Here's why.
First not everyone can play it.
Second does a win in the small game mean the same as a win in the long game?
Also what about all the other stats like average finish, final tables, wins and all the other stats that make this league so much fun.
So my vote would be for the long game counting in all categories and the smaller game being a $10 buy-in money game no league affiliation.

One more thing. I think every player in the long game should get points. Because points in what the league is all about and nobody likes to go home without any points.
