On the night of June 7, 2008, my wife Donna, will be participating in a very special event to help the fight to prevent suicide. It is called the Out of Darkness Overnight. It is a 20 mile walk in NYC from dusk till dawn. The walk is to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. AFSP is a non profit organization with the mission of understanding and preventing suicide through research and education and reaching out to people with mood disorders and those affected by suicide.

About 10% of the population suffers from depression. Of the 44 million who suffer from a mental disorder, only a third receive treatment. There are 30,000 lives lost each year to suicide. A suicide attempt occurs each minute of each day. A person dies of suicide every 16 minutes in the U.S. This year, 1 out of every 12 teenagers will attempt suicide.

Besides the poker tournament you can make a donation through the web site
www.theovernight.org

Or enjoy a night out at Friendly's on Route 1 in Attleboro on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 between 5 and 8 pm. A portion of all proceeds will go to AFSP.

Thank you for consedering helping out this worthy cause!
